Inaugurated in March 2013, the Pejman Tadayon Ensemble is the first project in Italy to have merged the disciplines that best express, from an artistic point of view, the essence of Sufism (music, dance and poetry). Founded and directed by the Persian musician and composer Pejman Tadayon, the ensemble proposes an alchemy of sounds, choreography and texts, inspired by the life and works of the most representative exponents of this mystical-philosophical current.
The poems of Jalaluddin Rumi, Hafez and Omar Khayyam, condensed in the lyrics that best represent the spiritual search and the tension towards the divine of the three Sufi mystics, are sung in the original language and recited in the translated version. The beauty and sacredness of their verses are marked by the original instruments of the Persian tradition (setar, ney, tar, oud, santur, tombak, daf) and by the choreography of the corps de ballet, which recalls the Sema of the Mevlevi whirling dervishes and the art of ancient Persian dance.
Drawing on the vast heritage of the Persian tradition, the Pejman Tadayon Ensemble aims to spread a universal message of peace and harmony, according to the custom of the Sufi brotherhoods, to encourage the exchange between cultures and the comparison between different religions and ethnic groups. A wide-ranging project that symbolizes, through the precious fusion between complementary expressive forms, the delicate harmony of the Cosmos and the precious interaction between human and divine.
